John Wilkerson's Bio
John Wilkerson’s broadcasting career started by
doing reports on High School Football and
Basketball for KWTO radio in Springfield, MO – all
while attending Southwest Missouri State University.
For some stupid reason, he decided to work in TV
anchoring sports first at KPOM/KFAA-TV in Fort
Smith/Fayetteville, AR from 1990 to 1992. After that
station shut down its news operation, this young man
went west to Flagstaff, Arizona as a Sports Anchor at
KNAZ-TV, where he covered the N.A.U.
Lumberjacks – and covered the Cardinals’ and Suns’
Training Camps.
Then it was back to Arkansas, where he spent 4
years as a sports anchor at KHBS/KHOG-TV in Fort
Smith/Fayetteville, covering the Arkansas
Razorbacks. In 1998, Wilkie came to his senses and
left local TV to work for ESPN – producing outdoor
shows for the network. At the turn of the century,
Wilkie had had enough of the World Wide Leader
and moved on producing and reporting on a variety
of events.
Since 2004, Wilkie has produced the weekly shows
for the ACC and SEC, as well as events for both
leagues. You can also see Wilkie’s mug on Georgia
Public Broadcasting – reporting and calling games
for High School Football and Basketball.
Wilkie and his wife live in the Metro Atlanta area and
is the father of three kids, a son and 2 daughters.
